If guns are a crime, only criminals will have guns = duh, so what’s the real reason for gun control?

“You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            – attributed to Isoroku Yamamoto, Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Japanese Navy.

Take a moment and ponder that statement  from the point of view of any person who believes the state should supersede the individual.  The very pause that statement evokes is precisely why our Founders gifted us with the Second Amendment.

It would seem to me that one cannot un-invent something, and if a thing exists it must be dealt with.  To pretend that a thing does not exist is to allow someone else the power to believe that it does exist and exercise their belief against yours, which cannot end well.  I do not mean to be flippant, but preparation for government intrusion and control into the individual’s life is the only reason for disarming the citizenry.

Weapons exist and are the only tools for the prevention, and cessation of crime.  If they are not guns they are knives, if they are not knives they are sticks, if they are not sticks they are fists.  You cannot outlaw self defense.  It is a fundamental aspect of Natural Law, the right to exist and that implies reasonable measures to ensure existence.

The police agencies are not a preventive force nor were they ever intended to be.  They are responsible for finding and punishing criminals.  That means that a crime must occur before they are activated.  That leaves the entire responsibility of prevention upon the individual.  This may be childish logic, but I would imagine the unarmed man to be a more likely candidate for a mugging than a man with a hip holstered weapon.  There have been several lawsuits where the police were cleared for not stopping a crime in progress or preventing a crime from occurring.  The courts have already spoken on this, we have just forgotten what they have said.

The left realizes that people do not like it when their belongings are stolen, or their persons intimidated and threatened.  The people en masse have no idea what MASSIVE taxation and appropriation is coming in the next 12 months on ad infinitum, and so they are setting the stage to remove problematic dissent when the public figures it out.

It is noteworthy that the AR-15, which many deem too dangerous for the average citizen is classified as a Personal Defense Weapon at the Department of Homeland Security.  It’s an assault weapon for you but a personal defense weapon for them.

Another concern is that of the 2 billion bullets purchased by the government recently, hundreds of millions are hollow point bullets.  Rounds so lethal they are forbidden on the battlefield by the Geneva convention, yet we are to believe that these rounds are for marksmenship and training exercises?

While ammunition prices skyrocket at the rate of oil (food, insurance, gold, you pick)  the government has purchased over  2 billion rounds of ammunition, 7000 fully automatic assault rifles (the real ones), 2,717 Navstar Defense Armored Vehicles (street tanks),  9,300 bulletproof toll booths, and some 30,000 drones (in the next 10 years), all for domestic use.  A non-exhaustive list of agencies that have made purchases include the Department of Homeland Security, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Agriculture, and the Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement.  This is beyond political affiliation and should at least raise a few eyebrows.

With the current political atmosphere and the rising furor over gun control we all need to slow down and examine the long lasting implications of things like gun registries.  Will the government having a list of gun-owners prevent one of the gun-owners from using his gun illegally?  Then what purpose could it possibly have?

If you think I am being melodramatic, and that the government would never confiscate your guns then consider the actions of the government during Hurricane Katrina.  Or what about State Department Memorandum 7277 from 1961 which outlined how the US Federal Government in coalition with the United Nations would disarm the world.  (see it here http://dosfan.lib.uic.edu/ERC/arms/freedom_war.html) Consider what is occurring in the states to my east and my west, in Colorado there is a bill that would ban the most common type of SHOTGUN, and in Missouri there is a bill that would give citizens 90 days to turn in their weapons and ammunition or face becoming a FELON!  Most likely neither bill will pass, but again the Overton Window slides to the side.  Also remember that the highest office of law in the land barely considers the 2nd Amendment even constitutional (5 out of 9 agree with)!

I am not an alarmist, nor even a gun enthusiast.  I neither hunt nor shoot for recreation, being much more inclined to air conditioning, but this information is noteworthy and I would like some answers.  Without the Second Amendment their is no First Amendment.  Without a First Amendment there is no Freedom.

A final note from Suzanna Hupp, a survivor of the mass shooting in Libby Texas.
